Ugbokolo in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State has been on lock down since Monday when students of the Benue State Polytechnic had taken to the street Monday to protest the abnormal increment of their school fees.
It was gathered that that Governor Samuel Ortom-led government recently increased their school fees by hundred per cent with the the students alleging that the increment was politically motivated and that the aim was to "de-literate" the Idoma Nation.
A document obtained through a journalist, Yemi Itodo, shows that the National Diploma 1 Student of the institution is now paying N65, 000 as against N30, 000 of last session. The students today blocked the Otukpa-Otukpo Federal road. Security forces have reportedly been mobilized to the scene of the protest.
