Three Dead As Tivs And Jukun Clash In Benue State

No fewer than three persons have reportedly lost their lives early Tuesday as Tiv and Jukun people clashed at Feedi Market, opposite the Air Force base in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

According to Punch, the crisis broke out at Feedi Market late Monday following a dispute between two young men of Tiv and Jukun ethnic groups.
The fight, which reportedly began around 7pm, spiraled out of control, leading to a mass brawl that led to the killing of one person who was simply identified as Tsegba Terver, a Tiv native.

Things then got out of hand on Tuesday as houses were burnt and two more persons killed in a full blown crisis between the two warring tribes.

It is understood that Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, and his team are presently embarking on an assessment tour of the affected areas.
