Police Retrieve Ransom From Kidnappers Of Nigerian Turkish College Pupils And Staff

The police have confirmed the arrest of four kidnappers involved in the abduction of five pupils and three teachers of the Nigerian Turkish International College in Isheri, Ogun State.

Acording to PUNCH, the Nigeria Police Force spokesman, Donald Awunah, said the police also recovered a cash sum of N1.2m from one of the suspects, Bekewei Agbojule, aka Prince Yellow, 29..

Awunah. on Thursday in Abuja, said Okoda lived in an Ijaw fishermen settlement behind the school. He said Okoda provided the gang the information about the school.

According to him, the suspected kidnappers were arrested by the IGP Intelligence Response Team, working in synergy with the Tactical Intelligence Unit of the Force, in a joint operation supervised by AIG Kayode Aderanti, AIG Zone 2, Lagos.

He said,

“In the course of investigation into the kidnap, three suspects namely, Kakadu, Council and Okoda, who lived in the fishermen’s community behind the school and provided information about the victims to his gang, were trailed and arrested at different locations in Delta, Ogun and Lagos states for the criminal roles they played in the crime.”

According to the police, further investigation also led to the arrest of Agbojule, a principal suspect and one of the key members of the gang, on January 25 at about 7am.

“The suspect, who is an Ijaw from Arogbo town in Ondo State, was arrested after he came out of the creeks to enjoy his loot.

“About N1.2m, which was his share of the ransom, was recovered from him. The four suspects have confessed to the crime, volunteered useful statements to investigators and are cooperating with the police.

“Concerted efforts are being made to arrest the remaining suspects who are at large. All the suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation,”
