8 Dead As Man Goes On Shooting Spree In Mississippi

No fewer than 8 persons have been reported dead including a sheriff’s deputy following a bloody weekend in Mississippi, United States.

Authorities however say a suspect is in custody.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation spokesman, Warren Strain, said the shootings occurred at three separate homes Saturday night in rural Lincoln County, 68 miles (109 kilometers) south of Jackson, the capital.

According to Strain, the department has not yet brought charges against the suspect and it would be “premature” to discuss a motive for the massacre.

So far, investigators are not yet certain whether the suspect knew his victims, or was connected to them in any way before allegedly killing them.

The Bureau spokeswoman added that investigators were gathering evidence at all three locations of the shooting.
