EFCC Arraigns Female NABDA Boss Over N23Million Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday, said it has arrested the Director-General of National Biotechnology Development Agency, Prof Lucy Ogbadu, over alleged N23m fraud.

Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC spokesperson, said Ogbadu was picked up by EFCC operatives in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, following her alleged link with the Bayelsa State Director of Bio-resources Development Centre, Josiah Habu.

According to him, Habu is being investigated by the anti-graft agency in a case of fraudulent diversion of N75m.

The EFCC Spokesperson added that the investigations by the EFCC revealed that Ogbadu allegedly received N23m through a bank account belonging to the wife of Habu, Mrs Esther Habu.

Uwujarem stated that Ogbadu admitted the transaction in a voluntary statement made to the commission’s investigators, adding that further investigations reavealed that Mrs Habu is one of the contractors with Bio-resources Development Centre, Odi,Bayelsa State.

Also, the EFCC spokesperson stated that a total of N603m has been traced to Ogbadu’s in different deals involving over 20 directors of the centre across the country. He added that her involvement is being investigated.

  3. What was the need for such arraign since EFCC had earlier arrested people who stoled larger money and nothing happens and it is a matter of just 23M
