The President of Prisons Officers Wives Association (PROWA) and wife of the Controller General of Prisons, Hajia Gwamma Ja'afaru Ahmed, has set free 19 inmates of Keffi prison in Nasarawa State.
This was disclosed in a statement by the spokesman of the Nigerian Prison Service, Francis Enobore in Abuja on Friday, which disclosed that the prisoners regained their freedom after the fines imposed on them by courts were paid by the PROWA president.
Mrs Ja'afaru while admonishing the beneficiaries charged them to be of good behaviour and shun criminality in order to justify the gesture.
The statement also said she advised members of the public not to stigmatise the inmates so they are not driven back to criminal activities.
