Veteran Nollywood actress turned pastor, Eucharia Anunobi, came out to share her heartfelt comment on Instagram about the Nigerian pastors and General Overseers of ministries who assign their junior pastors to be in-charge of local churches without adequate funds to cater for their up-keeps.
“You Are Free To Block Me After This Post… This thing of sending an assistant pastor to start a new branch WITHOUT any financial assistance, asking them to go and ‘prove’ their ministry looks like wickedness in religious robe.
Did you consider that those pastors have families who depend on them?
Whose ministry are they even proving? Theirs or yours? Definitely not theirs because this church is your ministry, not theirs? If they were going out to start their own ministry, then we can tell them to go and prove their ministry. Even though we should actually assist them too But this time sir, it is your ministry, your responsibility, your vision and you should also be part of the provision. Let’s be real and truthful to ourselves. Let our conscience judge this thing. You won’t give them $1 but you will expect tithe from them in a matter of months. Sir, that’s not good nah. Even unbelievers won’t open a branch of their business without equipping the shop for their manager. Religious people will come here to say “The kingdom operates with kingdom principles, don’t bring in corporate principles here”. Religion is insensitive, wicked and dangerous. Yet, religion preaches love. Such hypocrisy.
I am saying this because in my village, there’s a vibrant young pastor who was sent there by a very big ministry headquartered in the city, and he’s in my village to ‘prove his ministry’. He has no place to rest his head with his family and my family back home had to take him in. It hasn’t been easy with him yet the rich G.O of his church wouldn’t assist him financially. He laid hands on him and believes that’s enough to support him in the mission field.
The actress, however, advised the Overseers on how best to treat their Assistant pastors having faithfully being under their stewardship. She reiterated on the need to set them on salary scale. You haven’t yet blocked me? You must be a lover of truth. You will live long”
“Secondly, when a pastor leaves the service of your church having served for years, please don’t let him go empty handed. The situations surrounding his exit notwithstanding, provided he had once worked for you over the years, he deserves a gratuity/pension.
I have said it several times, assistant pastors should start demanding for a formal employment contract which stipulates the terms and conditions of their employment. This is 21st century”
Well...she made a good point ....vital one @that but if God truly calls u to serve...money n whatever challenge ahead won't be an issue
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that
ReplyDeleteThe G.O grew into that level overnight? If he didn't prove his ministry would there be an assistant in the first place? Jesus said go, not taking shoes or purses with you... This is one reason Apostle Paul ask women to keep quiet in the church.. You don't run ministry by sentiments... In as much as pastors should be encouraged, money should not be a criteria here. We are all stewards in his vineyards and no man owns a ministry,my he church belongs to Christ so our stewardship should be towards Christ and not towards men. What if the G.O gives you all what you desire and your works are rejected by God on the last day? Whose reward should we anticipate, that of the G.Onor that of God? This precious woman of God has a point but I think it's not well directed. Don't pollute the hearts of young dynamic ministers of God and make them quite their training season. Greatness is in service that's why Jesus said said if any amongst you wants to be great, such must learn the art of servitude. To you young minister who has been sent to prove your ministry please do it as unto the Lord, Trust me Heaven shall be your supply, the disciples came back rejoicing that they lacked nothing, you won't lack anything in Jeus precious name. I am a prove of this act, so don't give up and don't complain to any man, before every glory there must be a story, to that young minister in the village of this Precious woman of God, you may just be in your story season, wait keep trusting God and don't soil your hands, Heaven will come through for you in due season. Keep keeping on. Shalom.
