First 4 Universities To Get Free Wi-Fi In Nigeria Announced (See The Universities)

As a way to boost tertiary education in Nigerian universities, Surfwella, a free Wi-Fi facility, has said their service will be made available in Nigerian universities starting on Sunday, August 6.

Olusola Bankole, the chief marketing officer of Surfwella, said on Sunday that the firm would make available the free Wi-Fi in all university campuses in the country.

According to Punch, this is a part of Surfwella’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. It is an indigenous 4G operator, Cyberspace Network Limited, and a platform for social and cognitive computing.
Bankole said: “The University of Abuja will be the first beneficiary, with the service scheduled for launch on the institution’s campus this week Wednesday.
“The usage is totally free. No payment, no subscription, no data purchase, and no need for modems. It is free Internet in the most useable form on the Wi-Fi.
“The Lagos State University will be next, followed in quick succession by the College of Agric, Lafiaji, and the University of Lagos.
“It is our own form of Corporate Social Responsibility. It is all about empowering the students to be globally competitive, and access to free Internet is the best way to empower the budding oncoming Generation-Z.
“The whole idea of this project is to ensure that future graduates from universities across the country will compete with their contemporaries from other countries of the globe. More so, the surest way to be an entrepreneur is to acquiring Information and Communications Technology skills.”
The list as gathered from the statement is as follows:

1. University of Abuja

2. Lagos State University

3. College of Agriculture, Lafiaji

4. University of Lagos

Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode said the provision of the free Wi-Fi was part of his administration’s effort to make the state work for all and sundry.
